Insecurity on the Net
David von Vistauxx

Topic: Security
Audience: All audiences

Description:
Insecurity on the Net is most appropriate as a lunch address, or as a conference opening talk or a conference closing talk. It is a survey of the stupid, idiotic, bone-head, and just plain insane things that have I have seen in both low security and high security environments. How about the cable that someone mistakenly installed that bypassed the firewall and the export control computer in a 3 letter high security environment - it had been there for at least a year. How about the EMR (ElectroMagenetic Screen Room) "Cone of Silence" with an access panel to the elevator shaft. And the non secure hallway with an access panel to the elevator shaft. And the 3 feet between them. etc . . .

Prerequisites:
The ability to look at one's self and laugh. An open mind. An appreciation that we all make mistakes and the devil is truely in the details.

History:
1995 November - American Society for Industrial Security - Pugeot Sound Chapter's Annual Meeting Seattle, Washington, USA
