Request for Opinions : rdist versus rsyn

Operating within a Solaris 2.X environment our Configuration Management group 
uses rdist to update/populate areas after building. A colleague recently read
a reference to a tool known as rsync. 

The purpose of this query is to determine if there are some of you who support 
similar types of processing whose experience would allow you to say that 
[rdist|rsync] is better and why.

Finally, if you are familiar with a different tool than the two mentioned that
operates within the Solaris 2.x environment that you feel is superior please
communicate that as well.
