You may want to look into the Webmin project... there's
quite a bit of potential there.

My philosophy is... after learning to do it the hardest
way possible and spilling the guts of a thing all over
your nice new trousers... put it back together -- then,
if it works, promote yourself to a web-based admin tool. :)
