Agreed, Gartner is becoming a sort of religion, which is followed by more
and more people.
Now it seems to be ok to say: "I'm not technical, I don't understand any
of these technical stuff, but Gartner says...". Typically this is followed
by a decision from management that goes right against your technical
recomendation.
No engineering firm, no hospital would have somebody that only did an MBA
make an important "technical" decision...
