I was working with a friend trying to get a Pormise
IDE raid controller card to work with Linux.  Their
drivers are VERY particular about having the exact
version of kernel, and they do not provide source
so you can't recompile and go on.

But this is for internal system use rather than
external kinds of RAID systems.
