[SAGE] sircd or other

My company uses ircd extensively for internal communication, and we
have a few servers. They are kind of crufty. I was looking around
for a replacement option with integrated ssl and stumbled across
sircd. Does anybody use this currently that would care to share
a perspective on the matter? Currently we use stunnel for those people
who have off-site non-vpn type connections, but it has the side
effect of maintaining two sets of acls (since all people connection
through stunnel appear to come from 127.0.0.1, and the stunnel
acls through hosts.allow are different than the integrated irc
acls), and /who info becomes less useful.

Other suggestions are welcome as well. The front page of sircd
suggests to me that it is probably well designed and at least worth
a look.
