Hi Philip-
RT is worth the pain of a few extra perl modules. Really!
Here is one simple way: install a perl version just for RT, and add the
modules there. This way you reduce the chance of causing other folks work to
fail by modifying perl.
And if Perl modules are hard to add in your environment, I suggest that the
first trouble ticket you could generate on RT is: fix the perl installation
so that it is easy!
Don't be afraid to install multiple versions of perl. There are tools
(link-farm managers) such as opt_depot and many others that can make
this easy.
