Okay, now I'm curious: when I first encountered Berkeley mail/mailx, it
only accepted ~-commands when stdin was a tty or .mailrc had "set henry"
in it (and the manpage said "don't ask why it's named that"...). I
think this was on a System III with some 4BSD stuff added in (Plexus
sys3 if anyone else cares). Mid-80s in any case. Was this a Plexus
hack or did some early BSD release do that and then later make
~-interpretation the default?
