[SAGE] 1000 Mbps networking question

Greetings all,

I've got what I consider a strange question that I hope someone can
answer...

Is there any advantage in having a server with a 1000 Mbps network card when
all the clients connect at 100 Mbps? The router that the server connects to
supports 1000 Mbps but the switches the clients use only supports up to 100
Mbps. If I had a hardware lab I would test this out for myself, but
unfortunately I don't. 

Does anyone know the answer this?
