[SAGE] Linux Backup Software -- HELP needed in finding a reasonable one

I have just started at new company and have been getting
to know their systems. I examined my predecessors backup
system and was shocked that it was a simple tar script and
was not working at all for quite some time.

I have done the emergency work to get a full and patched
together something to get differentials done....BUT
I need a longer range solution.

So I was wondering what backup system (either free or commercial)
people are having success with out there before trying to
reinevnt the wheel or getting a package that is ugly.

I have available a tape library containing about 200 tapes,
one robot arm (can be accessed via tht mtx interface), the
library contains 14 DLT tape drives. the drives and changer
interface are connected to one system.

I'm basically looking for software that will drive
the tape drives concurrently, manage the catalog,
not write things in proprietary format, autochange tapes when
needed to continue a backup, do restores. Basically
the standard stuff.

My company would rather go with a open source solution but
I am considering commercial packages as well.

Got a suggestion on tape backup packages to look? and any
comments and experiences.

I really appreciate your help time and any good information
on this.

Thanks!
