I don't know if anything has been implemented, but it seems like this 
would be a great place to authenticate based on a PGP-type "web of 
trust".   If this friend-of-a-friend has a key signed by a trusted 
person, they can get in.

Again, I haven't seen anything like this actually in use, but it looks 
like something that could be doable, possibly through a web form as 
opposed to system authentication.
