SAGE was a STG of Usenix which is a not-for-profit 501(c)(3) charitable
corporation.

The new SAGE has filed incorporation documents in the state of NJ to
be a 501(c)(3) charitable coporation.

IEEE and ACM are also 501(c)(3) charitable organizations of the same
class.

There are many ways to run a 501(c)(3). Usenix does it one way. SAGE
is choosing to do it differently. Neither one is absolutely right
nor wrong, but a means of accomplishing a set of goals. 501(c)(3)s
come in sizes from tiny to gargantuan (e.g. IEEE) with a spectrum
from entirely volunteer, and no staff, to full publications, accounting,
mail, editorial, event/conference planning, etc staff.
