Some of us may not have really understood that USENIX needs a highly-
skilled chief executive, or been particularly aware of what Ellie does, or
even that she does it as a full-time job. The Board Of Directors don't get
salaries, right? So folks may have assumed that the Executive Director was
just like the person who ran Board meetings, someone who did it in their
spare time as a hobby, and not a full-time highly-skilled administrator.
(I personally had never really given it much thought, and am not outraged
or whatever either. :^)
