We are not yet using Puppet in production.
The big central IT unit here at the University of Florida uses cfengine
for at least part of their operation. But recent talk of declarative
vs. imperative got some of them "excited" about Puppet.
Puppet is scary because it is a relatively new product. This will be
true until some of us start using it and talking about it.
My general feeling is that organizations that are already heavy into
cfengine will probably not yet want to switch to something else such as
puppet. Any orgs that are just realizing that they need a configuration
management tool should investigate all of the options, including Puppet.
