My understanding is that you can also pretty much forget about using 
a Mac or other non-Windows box as your desktop to which you sync, and 
everything you want to install will have to be done via the desktop 
sync process -- there is no over-the-air update or program download.

Palm doesn't have a lot that they can do over-the-air, but they do 
have at least some things.


For me, one of the biggest complaints I have is that I want my 
handheld device to capable of being pretty much completely 
standalone.  I want to be able to sync with my desktop device of 
choice if I should choose to do so (using standard protocols, such as 
supported by iSync on the Mac), but I don't want to be forced to do a 
desktop sync in order to get useful data onto or off the device.
