It's more fun to use a 7.62 round, but cleanup is difficult (especially 
if you put the spindle down range) and there are few... facilities where 
you can use that equipment.

I'd be interested to know what cheap organizations do with old drives. 
If the machine works, you can format it. If the machine is a loss, do 
you move it and format the drive elsewhere, or physically destroy it?

I've got scores of machine which need to be surplussed, but the hard 
drives need not to have personal or research data on them. Let me 
emphasize that cheap is first priority, followed by quick.
