This is actually an effective strategy explored, used, and proposed by 
Randal Schwartz, et.al, years ago (at OSCON).  In fact, if you think 
they are a spammer, sandbag them.. make them pay dearly (time) for even 
connecting to you.  They won't retry the delivery, whereas legitimate 
mailers will persist.  I hope I am being accurate about what they said.. 
  All this can be very labor intensive  to try though - specialized 
configurations and sendmails, etc.  Perhaps someone can cite a reference 
to that work.
