When to use sh, when to use perl

sage'ers:

If you're an sh user and a perl user, and sometimes you choose one,
other times the other, what are your criteria for choosing each over
the other?

My thinking is that neither is "better" than the other, but that each
is better suited than the other for certain purposes.  I'm interested
in learning why you chose what you did in different circmstances.
